Together with our staff, we warmly welcome you to our place of refuge, immersed in the green Tuscan hills.

At the reception, Barbara, our indispensable right hand, will welcome you with a beautiful smile.
In the kitchen, the heart of the house, you will find the cooks who will prepare the delicious seasonal products from our garden, handled with dedication and competence by Derio and Mario.
Ulla and Thierry Besançon are the founders of the Casanuova Country Resort and Farm and together with their son Thilo, they are your hosts.

Ulla’s hospitality comes from passion, a professional academic. Enthusiastic cook and gardener, with a historical garden restoration studio behind her, practicing and teaching Yoga. Her love for art, architecture, furnishings and fabrics is reflected in every corner of the Country Resort. Author of a book about the Casanuova Cuisine and a guide tour of Tuscany.

Ulla Besançon

Farmer, inspired by the love of the countryside and wine, Professor of Physical Education in the past, passionate about trekking and ski mountaineering. Lover of jazz, classical music and his grand piano, Thierry is currently very involved in the garden orchard project.

Thierry Besançon

Raised in the family business in Tuscany. After graduating in agriculture and with national and international experience in viticulture, Thilo took over the farm from his father in 2012. In continuous research to optimize the quality of his wines and oil together with his winemaker Vincenzo, and with the daily support of his collaborators for the agricultural activities. He is the father of a beautiful son, Maximillian.

The love for Tuscany and its culture. From the beginning of our Italian adventure, our main task was, and still is, to protect and care for it with attention, in the memory and with great admiration for the work of the farmers who preceded us.
Italian cuisine and wine, enhanced and distinguished thanks to careful natural and organic production.
The passion to welcome guests from all over the world, from different cultures and nationalities.
Our attention is exclusively focused on our guests, how to make them feel at home, and to share with them all the traditions and beauties of our land.

A place with a rich history

Coming to Tuscany means immersing yourself in a Land with a dominant History

It was in the 1980s that we decided on a strong and energetic shift in our lives. Tuscany was our inspiring choice.
We found Casanuova, a 350-year-old building, a historic and aristocratic summer residence in the past and a farm of the Count Serristori property, later a monastery, an orphanage, and a school. This is the place where we decided to create a welcoming and discreet home for lovers of art and nature. We carefully restored every detail, created gardens and terraces, and made life explode among abandoned vineyards and olive groves.
In this naturally authentic place for inspiration, for relaxation and for meeting, the first groups of intimate friends found themselves sharing experiences and emotions, with guitars in their hands and feeling only the essentials of life. Today, as well as for many years now, groups and seminars have found within the walls and intimate spaces of Casanuova that ideal, deep, sustainable and perfect place, where they can give voice to their art and thoughts, in complete harmony with time and with the surroundings.

A sustainable and tailor-made stay, respecting what is natural and true

We love nature, authenticity, people and art. We don't like artificial embellishments.

We built this place with great attention to detail and every corner has its own why. We recycle as much as possible, giving new life to unwanted objects and reusing them for new purposes. We choose photovoltaic and solar panels as our renewable energy sources. We treat the environment around us with respect, and we prefer the greenery of the surroundings. At the Country Resort you will rediscover the pleasure of ancient flavours and being together, the simplicity of a heartfelt reception. There is no television, because there will be no need for it. Here, every form of art finds space. Everything is intimate and essential. It is that experience of feeling at home that makes the difference.
